Matthew Bondy

President, CPT

I was born and raised in Petoskey. I was always active, participating in multiple activities including multiple sports teams, theater, boy scouts and band. I excelled in track, ice hockey and soccer, which I was fortunate enough to play collegiately as well. I spent many summers working at Tim Bondy Physical Therapy and learned deeply about the value of personalized, quality care. After spending two years at Hope College, I made the decision to pursue one of my longstanding passions and moved to New York to study acting… and a little bit of psychology and politics.

After graduating from NYU, I jumped right into the artist life, going from audition to audition, in between bartending and co creating film and theater projects. It was during this time that I really began to focus on my physical health. As my acting career gained momentum, I began providing lifestyle and training tips to friends and fellow artists. The connection I found working with others who wanted to improve their mental and physical health proved deeply rewarding. As a result, I switched paths and began working as a personal trainer and fitness coach. My goal was to inspire healthy change in others, reflect a positive life, and enjoy the process.

In 2021, I was given the opportunity to take over my father’s long-established practice. My family and I made the move back to Petoskey and jumped headfirst into the new and exciting challenge of being business owners. It’s been a rewarding experience getting to know the clients and reintegrating myself back into the beauty of Northern Michigan. I hope to honor the path paved by Tim while turning an eye on the future. Keep a look out for new and exciting changes in coming years. In the meantime, please don’t be a stranger. I love meeting new people and I look forward to meeting you on your wellness journey.

Dr. Michael Johnson

PT, DPT, CLINIC DIRECTOR

I’m Michael Johnson, originally from Flushing, just outside Flint, Michigan, where I spent my early years. My shift into physical therapy came after a decade-long career as a quality engineer. I realized my passion lay in helping people on a more personal level, tackling their physical challenges directly.

Graduating from the University of Michigan in 2012, I continued my education at Michigan State University, focusing on osteopathic techniques for manual therapy. Transitioning into physical therapy was a result of personal reflection and support from my family. With an engineering background, I thrive on problem-solving and enjoy connecting with clients.

Outside of work, I enjoy woodworking, though I’m still learning. I find peace in nature, often taking walks in the woods. Spending time with my grown children and our three Newfoundlands brings me so much joy.

Above all, what I value most in my job is making a real difference in people’s lives. Seeing their progress and hearing their appreciation reaffirms my dedication to helping them live fulfilling lives. I’m excited to join the team at Bondy PT.

Andrea Ancel

PT, DPT

Hi there! I’m Andrea Ancel — mom, wife, and physical therapist.

I was born and raised in Monroe, Michigan, and my journey into physical therapy began at the University of Toledo, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Exercise Science with a focus on Athletic Training. I went on to complete my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating in 2016.

My clinical background is well rounded, with experience treating orthopedic, neurologic, and women’s health conditions. From the start, I knew I wanted to return to my home state and embrace the lifestyle that Northern Michigan has to offer. I’m grateful to live and work in such a beautiful community alongside my husband and our two children.

When I’m not in the clinic, you’ll find me spending time outdoors with my family hiking, gardening, skiing, and running —or simply slowing down to enjoy the small, meaningful moments in life.

Jim Perry

LPTA

My educational roots trace back to the realm of Applied Sciences in Physical Therapy, a foundation that reflects my commitment to helping others while fostering employment sustainability.

From Lansing for three decades to the enchanting realms of Petoskey for another three, I’ve found my place in these diverse landscapes.

My career isn’t just a job; it’s a calling to make a meaningful impact and ensure the longevity of employment opportunities. Beyond work, the great outdoors beckon – fishing, hunting, and camping are my chosen avenues of adventure.

Life’s chapters are ever-evolving; I’ve recently embraced engagement and extended our family to include a cherished cat and a lovable dog.

Music serves as the soundtrack to my existence, woven into every moment with seamless precision. Together, let’s explore the world of Physical Therapy, personal passions, and the symphony of life’s experiences.

Mikayla Oppermann

LPTA

I was born and raised in Petoskey, MI, and have always had a deep love for sports—especially hockey. I laced up my first pair of skates at 14, and through hard work and determination, I achieved my goal of playing college hockey. During high school, I also discovered a passion for biology, with AP Biology quickly becoming my favorite class. I always knew I wanted to help others, though I wasn’t sure what that would look like in my future career.

My college journey began at Aquinas College, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree as a Child Life Specialist. During that time, I worked as a tutor for Human Anatomy and Physiology, which further deepened my love for biology. While playing college hockey, I also had the opportunity to coach youth players, helping them with conditioning and training. That experience fueled my desire to continue my education, ultimately leading me to pursue a degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant at Baker College.

As a PTA, I’m able to combine my passions—helping people heal, improving their physical well-being, and restoring their independence. It’s incredibly fulfilling to be part of someone’s journey to recovery.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, staying active, and going for walks. But you might also find me curled up with my dog, Pretzel, and my cat, Batman, or working on a LEGO set. My favorite way to spend a day is at the beach in Northern Michigan. After several years in Grand Rapids, I’m grateful to be back home, and I feel truly lucky to be part of the Bondy team, where I can make a difference in people’s lives every day.

Kimberly Healey-Pankratz

FRONT DESK MANAGER

I have worked for Bondy physical therapy for almost 20 years. My favorite part of working here is truly my coworkers. We are family and that is why I believe our patients continue to come back to see us because they also feel part of the family while they are here . I have lived in Northern Michigan my entire life and honestly I cannot imagine living anywhere else. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband Lance gardening, kayaking, and fishing.

Judy Fouch

PT AIDE, FRONT DESK ASSISTANT

I have been with the clinic for almost five years. I was blessed with the opportunity to learn about physical therapy through job experience, in assisting the therapists as a technician. It was my original desire to pursue physical therapy in college, but I chose a different career path in business. It was only through semi-retirement that I had the opportunity to finally work in this field. I love my job, but what I love most is that I can help people and hopefully make a difference in their life.

I grew up in Lansing and moved out west for several years before returning to Michigan. I raised my family in Petoskey and it has been my home now for 34 years. I have two beautiful daughters and four adorable grandchildren. I also have two pets which have been part of my family for many years. My hobbies include swimming, kayaking, long walks, hiking, traveling, photography, and of course spending time with family and friends.

Linda Rundles

PT AIDE

My career experience encompasses 40 + years as a dental assistant, the last half working in Orthodontics. I grew up in the South Suburbs of Chicago and at age 13, my family moved to Denver, where I resided until 2020. Northern Michigan had been our yearly vacation destination for 22 years and it was our dream to retire and live here. My husband, Jeff and I have 6 children, all born and raised in Denver, 3 grandchildren with 2 more on the way! In 2021, I became a patient at Bondy PT and it became apparent that my experience in patient care would transfer nicely and I became part of the attentive and personal care team! The relationships and trust fostered here and the focus on the whole person is the my favorite reason for being here. I enjoy hiking, skiing, traveling, pickleball, reading and anything in or on the shoreline of our beautiful lakes.
